Shell Cordovan Leather Strop is designed for final edge polishing with the Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust knife sharpener.
The stropping surface is genuine Italian Shell Cordovan, a prized leather made from a specific part of a horsehide. The leather is approximately 1mm thick and mounted on a rigid 1.45mm steel blank in the PPA form factor.
The ferromagnetic blank attaches directly to the magnets in the original PPA stone holder. Alignment holes engage the holder's locating tabs to position the strop and keep it stable during use, allowing quick changes between sharpening stones and the strop.
Once a stropping compound has been applied, it cannot be fully removed from Shell Cordovan. Use a separate strop for each compound to avoid mixing abrasives.
Shell Cordovan is more water-resistant than many other leathers, but it is not waterproof.
