A honing oil prevents or slows down stone loading and increases sharpening performance. Gritomatic Honing Oil is pure oleic acid which is one of the best lubricants for oilstones. Multiple experiments have determined that oleic oil behaves better during sharpening in comparison with branded mineral oils. Oleic oil is recommended for all natural stones and ceramic stones.
Don't be afraid of the word "acid"; oleic acid is not a hazardous substance. It occurs naturally in various animal and vegetable fats and oils. We sell high quality oleic acid for technical applications. It has a light yellow color and moderate odor. Oleic acid can be used separately or mixed with olive oil.
The 50 ml (1.7 fl.oz) bottle has a dispenser.

How to use
Put a small amount (1-2 drops) of honing oil on the stone’s surface and spread it evenly over the stone with a finger. Remove the used lubricant with a paper towel.
