Boride T2 Series 5-Stone Boxed Set includes five 6" aluminum oxide sharpening stones: F150, F220, F400, F800, and F1200 grit. The complete progression covers bevel sharpening through fine edge refinement with gradual grit transitions.

The set comes in a custom Gritomatic storage case 3D-printed from Blue PLA plastic. Dedicated internal slots keep all five stones separated and protected during storage and transport. Reliable latches prevent accidental opening, while integrated ventilation holes help moisture escape after sharpening sessions.

Each stone features indigo anodized aluminum backing with permanent grit engraving on both sides for fast identification inside the box. The full stone progression is engraved inside the lid for quick visual reference. Bumpons and anti-slip textured bottom surface improve stability and protect the case on the workbench.

Boride T2 Series stones are aluminum oxide sharpening stones with a hard vitrified bond. Rated 4 for hardness on the Boride reference scale, T2 offers excellent wear resistance and flatness retention while maintaining efficient cutting performance and consistent feedback.

T2 is a versatile workhorse series suitable for general-purpose knife sharpening across a broad range of steels. Its balanced cutting and wear characteristics make the series suitable for complete sharpening progressions, from bevel work through fine edge refinement.

T2 stones are oil-retentive, maintaining a stable oil film on the working surface instead of rapidly wicking oil into the stone body. They can be used effectively with either water or light honing oil.

Boride T2 stones are mounted on high-quality aluminum blanks in standard Edge Pro form-factor, making them compatible with Hapstone, TSProf, and many other guided knife sharpening systems.

Boride T2 stones should be used with oil or soapy water. Do not use the stones dry.

Oil Behavior

Oil Behavior describes how a sharpening stone interacts with oil during use. The property is especially important for vitrified and resin-bonded stones because oil can either remain on the working surface or be absorbed into the stone body. Oil behavior affects sharpening feel, swarf evacuation, loading tendency, maintenance, and long-term stone cleanliness.

Oil-retentive stones keep a stable lubricating film on the surface during sharpening. This improves swarf mobility, reduces surface drying, and creates a smoother, more consistent sharpening feel. Oil-retentive stones are suitable for long-term use with honing oil.

Oil-wicking stones rapidly absorb oil into the internal structure through capillary action. The working surface dries quickly, swarf removal becomes less efficient, and oil contamination may become difficult or impossible to remove completely. Oil-wicking stones are generally better suited for water-based sharpening.
